Canadian Lynx

Canadian lynx hunt mice, which makes them an important part of controlling our mouse population and keeping our food chain in check. There are not even that many lynx left in the wild, this is terrible because there are estimated to be less than 550 left. One reason the Canadian lynx are endangered is because people are making them house pets. They are keeping them captive and these animals are not meant to live in a house. Yes, they are cute but you cannot take them in then because they need to live in the wild. Other reasons why they are dying out is because people are destroying their habitats, along with many other animals that live in the same environment as them. Another reason they are dying out is because poachers are hunting them for their skin and fur. There is no reason for us to do this. We need to save the last of Canadian lynx.

Snowy Plover

The Snowy plover is a small bird that is endangered according to the fish and wildlife service. You can see a Snowy plover nesting from March to September within their environments. The Snowy plover eats crustaceans, mollusks, marine worms, and insects. It is a great part of our food chain. Some Snowy plovers migrate and the others don’t, which I am sure is contributing to their extinction. Snowy plovers would like to live in a place not in peace. We need to stop people from hurting and hunting them.  So next time you see one don’t hurt it. These birds abandon their nests and their eggs are getting eaten. We need to stop hurting their environments and let them thrive.

Snowy Owl

Snowy owls are endangered from poachers that hunt them for their feet. According to audubon.org “Their habitat includes prairies, fields, and marshes In summer while ranging in Canada for winter.” They have a ranged diet from small animals to larger ones. According to Alaskawild.org, “They eat three to five lemmings a day which are small gopher like mammals.” The Snowy Owl is also threatened by automobile accidents, along with poachers. We have to save the last remaining snowy owls and help them to repopulate their existence.

Rhino

Did you know that the average weight for a Rhino is 3,500 pounds? This is a huge animal that is losing their population. How is such a large animal being hunted so easily? The Rhino is the second largest mammal following behind the elephant, which are also unfortunately being poached for their husks (ivory). Rhinos are Critically Endangered or dying out fast. We have to stop this. It is important for their food chains and habitats that they survive. We need to stop poachers from killing them off for their ivory and tusks, just like the elephants. The ivory is used for unsanctioned medicine and money. This is tragic and we need to save them.

Red Wolf

The red wolf is threatened by habitat loss and poached for their fur. There are only 250 left in the wild and 100 in captivity for breeding. It is imperative that we protect the only surviving red wolves that are left. They are on the brink of extinction and it is very depressing. We need to promote their existence in order to protect them from further depletion. They are a beautiful animal that needs a place to live and we need to stop destroying their natural habitats.
